Aberdares National Park, Kenya

The Aberdare National Park covers the higher areas of the Aberdare Mountain Range of central Kenya of 766sq km and the Aberdare Salient to their east. Aberdare National Park is located in Nyeri / Nyandarua District and was created in 1950. Animals easily observed include the lion, leopard, baboon, black and white Colobus monkey, and Sykes monkey. Rarer sightings include those of the golden cat and the bongo – an elusive forest antelope that lives in the bamboo forest.

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Amboseli National Park is home to large herds of free-ranging elephants, buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, hyena, giraffes, zebra, and wildebeest among other African animals. There is also a host of Kenya birds, both large and small, to see if you keep your eyes open and stop at every sighting. Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world is best viewed from Amboseli National Park.

Lake Naivasha, Kenya

Lake Naivasha is one of Kenya’s most stunning Rift Valley freshwater lakes. It is surrounded by feathery papyrus, marshy lagoons and grassy shores and without any known outlet - a prerequisite for a freshwater lake. Game viewing includes: giraffe, buffalo, Colobus monkeys, large lazy hippos, hartebeest, lion, leopard and cheetah. Birdlife at the lake includes Long-tailed and Great Cormorants, Fish Eagles and Pied Kingfishers, Black Herons, Babblers and Lovebirds.

Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

Lake Nakuru National Park rivals Amboseli as Kenya’s second-most-visited park. This is one of the best places in Kenya  to see leopards, white rhinos and black rhinos and the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Lake Nakuru National park’s most famous attraction is the flamingos that ring the lake in thousands. Lake Nakuru is a bird watcher paradise with over 500 bird species recorded in the park.

Tsavo East National Park, Kenya

Tsavo East National Park consists mainly of grasslands which are generally flat and dry. Conservationists consider this area as one of the world’s strongholds when it comes to biodiversity, mainly due to the wildlife that proliferates here. Tsavo West National Park, Kenya

Tsavo West National Park was established in 1948 and forms part of the Greater Tsavo National Park that includes Tsavo East and West National Parks and the Chyulu Hills. Tsavo West National Park encompasses mountains and hills for climbing, savanna bush and semi-arid desert scrub, acacia woodland, palm thickets, rivers and the tranquil Lake Jipe. Tsavo West is home to the largest population of red-skinned elephants as well as to members of the rest of the "Big 5" African animals (buffalo, African lions, leopards and rhinos). There is also a host of Kenyan birds and other animals, both large and small to see.

Masai Mara National Game Reserve, Kenya

The Masai Mara is one of the best known and most popular reserves in the whole of Africa. The reserve's topography is mainly open savannah (grassland) with clusters of acacia trees along the southeastern area of the park. The Mara is also home to the richest concentration of wildlife, including the "Big Five" (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, Oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles and others.

Samburu National Reserve, Kenya

Apart from being scenically and faunally dramatic for most of the year, Samburu National Reserve boasts a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere including the Grevy zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk. Other animals commonly seen are elephants, lions, cheetahs, gerenuks, buffalos, grants gazelles, dik diks and waterbucks. There are over 350 varieties of birds. These include the famous Somali Ostriches (distinguished by their unique purple/blue legs during mating season), kingfishers, humming birds, eagles, guinea fowls and vultures.

Mount Kenya National Park, Kenya

Part of the Mount Kenya National Park's fascination is the variation in flora and fauna as the altitude changes. The lower slopes are covered with dry upland forest, the true montane forest begins at 2,000 m. is mainly cedar and podo. At 2,500m begins a dense belt of of bamboo forest which merges into the upper forest of smaller trees, interspersed with glades. In this area the trees are festooned with high altitude moss. These forest belts are host to many different animals and plants with at least 11 unique species. Game to view includes: Black and White Colobus and Sykes monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, elephant and lower down Olive Baboon, waterbuck, black rhino, black fronted duiker, leopard, giant forest hog, genet cat, bush pig and hyena. More elusive is the bongo, a rare type of forest antelope.
